FacetWin Version 4 Upgrade Information

FacetWin Version 4 is a major upgrade to the FacetWin product, adding new features and functionality. Customers may determine if they qualify for a free upgrade to Version 4, or if they will need to purchase a discounted upgrade license by reading the information below. FacetWin's version aware licensing is also described.

Version Aware Licensing: The FacetWin license manager is "version aware." What this means is that when you purchase a FacetWin license, the software knows what version the license is for (V2, V3 or V4). So in general, a V3 licensed user cannot use the new features in Version 4 without getting a V4 upgrade license. There are two main benefits to this licensing approach. The first is that all customers, no matter what version of license they have, can always install and use the latest released FacetWin software from FacetCorp. They get the latest improvements for the features they have purchased. The second benefit is that it allows our developers to maintain a single source base. Operating with a single source base results in code that is generally higher quality and easier to maintain for the customer.

So regardless of whether or not you want to try the new features, FacetCorp strongly encourages all customers to download, install and use the latest version of FacetWin.

Free Version 4 Upgrade: For existing customers to qualify for a free Version 4 upgrade, they must:

  • Be under FacetWin maintenance as of May 1, 2007 and at the time of their upgrade order, or
  • Be an authorized FacetWin reseller of record as of May 1, 2007 and at the time of their upgrade order, or
  • Be an end user who purchased their first FacetWin license since May 1, 2007.

Version 4 Upgrade Evaluation: Existing FacetWin licensed customers (V2 or V3) and new customers who are evaluating FacetWin Version 3 are encouraged to download and try the new Version 4 software. By installing Version 4 over your previous Version 2 or 3 software, you will be able to try this new version for 30 days (from the date of install) for up to 50 people.

Version 4 Upgrade License Purchase: Customers with an existing FacetWin license who do not qualify for the free license may purchase an upgrade license from their normal FacetWin supplier. The pricing for V4 upgrade licenses for customers coming from either V2 or V3 software is about 65% off from the FacetWin price list.
