On some platforms, FacetTerm's serial number is tied to the Operating System serial number or other operating system/hardware information. On these systems, and under some other circumstances, the Operating System serial number may get changed and thereby knock out your FacetTerm Registration. If this happens or if you suspect it might happen, you'll be glad you paid attention to all of those IMPORTANT NOTES about saving your Authorized FacetTerm Registration (AFR) form and writing down your AFR tracking number. (You did write it down, right?)
If your FacetTerm Registration gets knocked out you will probably first notice it by the "Please register # 12345 within X days" message that pops up every time you start FacetTerm, or your FacetTerm will have reverted to single user mode. If your FacetTerm has NEVER been registered, these are normal messages; otherwise, here's how to deal with it:
If the serial number reported IS the same number used on your AFR when you registered FacetTerm, simply re-enter the Registration Number from your AFR form. Use "facetadm", menu option #2.
This NEW FacetTerm Registration Number needs to be put back into the FacetTerm system through the "facetadm" menu option #2.
Note: If you anticipate upgrading your system and potentially knocking out your FacetTerm Registration after normal business hours; on a weekend or holiday, call FacetTerm Technical Support in advance to get a temporary registration number for use on that day. This precaution will provide you with uninterrupted use of FacetTerm until you can contact our Registration Department during regular business hours for a permanent key.
