FacetWin DT Serial Emulator Announced

FacetCorp (Plano, TX, USA) has announced the release of FacetWin DT. The DT stands for Dialup Terminal and the product is a stand-alone terminal emulator for serial connections. FacetWin has long been the standard for network-based terminal emulation. With this release of FacetWin DT, FacetCorp has now opened up the use of FacetWin emulation to companies that are not able to establish a network connection from their PCs to the host server. FacetWin DT adds an important new capability for companies that want to use PCs over a dialup connection (without PPP) or direct serial cabling to connect to character-based applications.

Before now, FacetWin customers with Windows PCs that were connected to corporate servers had to set up a PPP serial connection. With FacetWin DT, this step will no longer be necessary. Customers will be able to quickly and easily establish remote connections without installing anything on the host server.

“Adding the FacetWin DT product is going to be a huge benefit for our resellers and customers," said Paul Vance, vice president & general manager for FacetCorp. "They will now be able to integrate the same world-class terminal emulation from FacetWin into customer environments where they only have serial connectivity. These users will now be able to connect to their company computer servers, whether they are remote telecommuters, working at a branch office, traveling, or at a main office without a TCP/ip network."

FacetWin DT is being released as a separate product from FacetWin. However, the actual terminal emulations are identical between the two products. The complete FacetWin networking based product was originally released in 1996. FacetWin is the all-in-one Windows to UNIX integration solution that is priced like a single feature product. FacetWin features include terminal emulation, CIFS-based file services, bi-directional printer services, PC backup, Internet modem server, PC agent, and Simple Sign-Onä (SSO), all managed through a Windows administrator.

FacetWin DT is available for immediate delivery. The single user price for FacetWin DT is $100, with volume discounts beginning at the 5-user level. And, customers may mix and match FacetWin DT and FacetWin for volume discounting purposes. Customers may place their orders now by contacting FacetCorp or one of their authorized resellers.
