FacetCorp Releases FacetTerm for Linux

Also Upgrades FacetWin Linux Support

Includes Support for Red Hat Linux and Caldera OpenLinux

June 27, 2000

FacetCorp (Plano, TX, USA) has announced that for the first time their FacetTerm UNIX multi-session and productivity software product is now available for Linux systems. At the same time, FacetCorp announced an upgrade in Linux support by FacetWin, their all-in-one Windows to UNIX integration product.

FacetTerm is the de facto industry standard UNIX tool for providing multiple sessions on PCs with terminal emulation and on character terminals. The multi-session technology works with all character-based UNIX applications (without change!) and all text terminals or PC terminal emulators. Other FacetTerm features include screen print, copy and paste, and Window WatchTM for automatic monitoring of off-screen activity. FacetTerm is an incredibly useful UNIX productivity tool, and is in use across all industries throughout the world. Companies such as AirTouch Communications, AT&T, DHL, GTE, J.C. Penney, Kodak, Kroger, Motorola, Raytheon, Sears and Wal-Mart use FacetTerm.

FacetTerm Version 3 is now compatible with Red Hat Linux, Caldera OpenLinux, SuSE Linux, and TurboLinux. This release of FacetTerm is also supported on all other versions of Linux with the “glibc” version 2 runtime libraries.

“As companies require 24 x 7 productivity from their computing environments, multi-session solutions have become an important technology, said Kim Knutilla, Vice President of Engineering for Red Hat. “By putting FacetTerm on Red Hat Linux, FacetCorp has further proven its commitment to delivering the right Linux solution to this market.” Dean Taylor, Vice President of Marketing for Caldera Systems, Inc. said “FacetTerm has stood the test of time as a productivity tool in the UNIX arena.” “Making FacetTerm available on Caldera’s OpenLinux is a great move for both them and us. Our customers get a proven application and FacetTerm users can evaluate our stable, fast and low-cost operating system as a platform.”

“We have been a long time reseller of FacetCorp products,” commented Ron Serandos, President of Gateswood Software. “With our current market emphasis on Linux systems, this new release of FacetTerm is something our customers are very excited about.” Paul Vance, Vice President of FacetCorp said “FacetTerm is one of the most ubiquitous software products installed on UNIX systems.” “With normal customer payback occurring in the first week or two of use, FacetTerm is ideally suited for this rapidly expanding Linux market.”

FacetTerm pricing begins at $495.

FacetCorp has also announced that FacetWin has been upgraded to support all of the Linux versions which run the “glibc 2” runtime library. FacetWin is the all-in-one Windows to UNIX integration software solution. The product is packaged with several important features, but is priced like a single feature product. These features include CIFS-based file and print services, terminal emulation, Internet modem server, PC backup, PC agent, and it comes with complete graphical administration. FacetWin pricing is based on the number of users, and remains unchanged, starting at $195 for a single user with significant discounts for multi-user licenses.
