Overview
The FacetWin DT terminal emulator allows you to run your character based
host/server applications in windows on your PC. After initial setup of an
application, starting it is as easy as choosing it in the Windows Start Menu, or
double-clicking its icon.
Each host/server application that you setup is described by a FacetWin
terminal emulator configuration file. These files have a “.fwt” file name extension. Double-clicking on one of these files, or a shortcut to
one, will cause the host/server application described by the configuration to
be started in an emulator window. Right-clicking on one of these files (but
not a shortcut to it) will bring up a menu which allows you to change the
properties of the configuration.
The PC installation of FacetWin DT will put the “FacetWin” group in your Start menu:
The “UNIX Applications” group is created when you define your first host/server application. This
is the default location in the Start menu for the host/server applications you
will setup.
Note: How the term UNIX is used in this help document.
The “FacetWin” group includes the following:
The items related to the FacetWin DT terminal emulator are:
- The “Add a serial or dial-up connection” item is used to create and configure a new FacetWin DT terminal emulator
configuration to run an application on a host server.
- The “FacetWin Terminal Configurations” item will open an Explorer window in the folder where all the configurations
are kept. You can right-click on the configurations displayed there in order
to change their properties. You can double-click a configuration to start the
host/server application it describes.
